Development of this function is ongoing. Currently playlits can be created. From the context menu songs, albums or all songs of one artist can be added. Deleting just delets songs from the plalist and not from the music database. The play order can be changed with drag and drop in the song table. Use the first column for reordering songs. Purging tha databse does not purge the playlists. After readding all MP3 songs the playlist can be re-used.
One can add a bokkmark for single songs, fo an album or for an artist. Like that you find these items easy from the music explorer. In the album view these items are marked with a coloured star image.
The alphabet toolbar is the heart of this MP3 player. Access to all the music is gained through this toolbar. This gives you access to your own MP3 collection in the familiar format of the most popular MP3 download pages. Clicking on any letter displays all the bands or CD's (depending on your selection) that start with this letter. Bands for whom more than one disc was found are displayed in bold. The count of discs is suffixed.
A click on any band shows all the CD's for that band in chronological order. The most recent is displayed on top. Also included in the list are all "Various Artist" CD's that include music from the band. Where available the CD cover sleeve is also displayed.
Using the album view you get the sense of loading a CD you wish to listen to. You can scan in the CD cover sleeve in a JPEG format and save them in the same folder as the music. The view includes the name of the song, the duration, and the rating (stare are displayed. Underneath the CD there is further information , Year, genre, Total Duration , Sample rate and Bit rate.
If you search a Band, Album or Song the search rusult is shown in groups for Bands, Albums and Songs.
In the table view you see all the available tags. The order can be changed by clicking on the table header in the relevant column. The column's can be reordered by dragging and dropping. The properties dialog can be opened and the tag can be edited from context menu. The common properties for more than one song can be edited by selecting multiple songs.
If there are several bands in a folder the CD is considered a "Various Artist" CD. These can be identified by clicking "VA" on the alphabet toolbar. The band name prefixes the song title in the album view.
The cover sleeve images must be saved in the same folder as the MP3 files for the particular album. From the Tools menu you can select "Manage Cover Imgaes". This function renames the image file accroding to following scheme:
The old filename has no impact once the rename process was run. AllMyMusic determines the correct image based on the filename as long as they are named as follows:
The database associates the graphic is with the CD, this association is not written into the MP3 files.
The meta data in the MP3 files can be modified using the tag editor. If the band name is incorrect or some information is missing or needs to be modified then this can be updated. The tag editor is accessed from the context menu. It is also accessible from the album view and the table view. Changes to multiple files simultaneously is only possible from table view. The actual ID3 tag information as it is saved in the file can be seen in the second tab.
If some new MP3 files do not contain ID3 tags you can't use most of the features in AllMyMusic for these files. These files appear in the songtable if you click the "NT" (Not Tagged) in the alphabet toolbar. In most cases you can guess the bandname, albumname and song title from the directory and filenames Using the "Auto-Tag" dialog from the context menu of the songtable you are able to add ID3 tags in an easy way.
Example:
C:\Documents and Settings\Billy\My Music\Pop\Abba\1999 Greatest Hits\01 Waterloo.mp3
Assuming this file does not contain ID3 tags yet, you go and select following pattern from the pattern combo box.
< band >\< year > < album >\< track > < song >
With the rename tool you can rename files and folder in you MP3 collection based on the ID3 tags.
You can use the same pattern as in the above described Tag tool. You can use this tool if the ID3 tags
exist in the MP3 files but the filenames are not as per your preferences.
Also folder can be renamed automatically. You can add the year as a prefix to the album name.
So all albums of the artist are in a chronological order.
Using the pattern < track > < song > will rename all selected songs that way that the
new filename consists of the tracknumber, followed by a space and then the songs title.
Using the tree view on the left side you can browse your collection according to following criteria:
The selected category is displayed in the table view. Band view album view can be launched from the context menu. The player can be started from the context menu.
Select "Add Songs" from the file menu and then select the starting directory are saved. A progress bar shows how many songs are added to the database and how many directories remain to be processed. During this process the ID3 tags are read from the MP3 files and this information is saved to the SQL database. The MP3 files are not stored in the database.
Select "Setup" from the "Database" menu, create a new database. You can work with multiple databases and choose whether you want to work with SQL Server or with MYSQL. If a number of databases are maintained then select the active database (i.e. AllmyMusic or NewMP3).
The functions listed below are implemented:
You can now manage your songs in multiple databases. If necessary even with the cyrillic alphabet for russian music. Suggestion: MyMusic, NewMP3, Classic
